Temperature Range for Sample Chamber during Outgas Test per ASTM 595-15: 25°C to 150°C
Used to conduct material outgas testing following the process of the ASTM 595-15 procedure document. This test is in conjunction with using the Temperature and Humidity chamber at MASTS.
The test will be conducted using prepared specimens. The specimens are prepared in the temperature and humidity chamber at 23° C (+/- 2° C) and 50% RH (+/- 5%) for 24 hours. Then tested in a stainless-steel vacuum bell jar assembly and a vacuum pump over a 24-hour period at two controlled temperatures, using a cold condensate plate operating at 25° C (+/- 1° C) and a hot outgas heater plate operating at 125° C (+/- 1° C) while maintaining a vacuum pressure of at least 5 x 10^-5 Torr. The test will determine the total mass loss (TML), collected volatile condensable materials (CVCM), and water vapor regained (WVR) for materials subject to a space flight environment. After the vacuum test is finished the specimens are conditioned again for a 24-hour period in the temperature and humidity chamber.
Total test time is approximately 3 days. Testing must be scheduled to be completed during a normal business week.
Prepared specimens must be ≥0.2 g total mass; ≤10 g max. Specimen size of 1/8” cube are preferred. Samples must fit in McMaster-Carr 17805T28 weighing dishes (http://www.mcmaster.com/17805T28/ ).
This chamber can also be used as a vacuum only testing chamber with prior consultation of test procedure. NO THERMAL CONTROL.

PLEASE CONTACT JASON MARTEL (jason_martel@uml.edu) FOR PROJECT CONSULTATION AND QUOTE.
· An Abbess Instruments 36-inch cubed vacuum chamber complete with a 32-inch cube of usable volume within its thermal shroud and plate is available for thermal testing. It is capable of 1x10-6 torr with a thermal range of -180C to +150C. It has independent plate and shroud control.
· Customer test profile including ramp rates required should be submitted for review to UML to ensure suitability with the chamber system limits.
· This chamber can accommodate up to 12U cubesats depending on solar panel configuration.
· The chamber is equipped with a 14” by 14” area of ¼-20 mounting holes with 2” by 2” spacing on the thermal plate.
· The chamber has 4 - NW40 flanges and 4 - LF100 flanges. One of the LF100 flanges will be allocated to a TQCM if needed. The TQCM system is manufactured by CrystalTek.
· An Inficon Transpector MPS100F RGA is available.
· The chamber is equipped with Inficon MPG550 and PCG550 gauges with readout for logging pressure.
· The chamber is equipped with a Watlow F4T for thermal control and logging.
· Some electrical feedthroughs are in-house but customers should plan to supply their own feedthrough to attach to the available flanges. If requesting to use an in house feedthrough supplied by UML please supply description of your electrical needs for review to see if a suitable in-house flange is available.
